Romantic Art
-has no single unifying ideal or idea
-more an attitude than a formal movement and so there's great variation in the work
-Characteristics:
+values: intuition, emotion, imagination
+emotional tone: subjective, spontaneous, non-conforming
+subjects: heoric struggle,landscaped, legend, nature, violence, exotic
+Technique: rich color, light/dark contrast, quick, visible brushstrokes
+Role of Art: expression of subjective emotion, present use of unconsicous mind
