Anotomic Position
Person standing face forward with palms facing forward.
Midline
Imaginary line drawn through the center if body, diving it into right and left halves.
Midaxillary Lines
Imaginary line drawn through both sides of the body, dividing it into front and back halves.
Torso
Chest and abdomen
Medial
Toward the midline
Lateral
Away from the midline
Superior
Toward the head
Inferior
Towards the feet
Right and Left
Always refers to the patients right anf left not yours!
Unilateral
One-Sided
Bilateral
Two-Sided
Dorsal
A term meaning the back of something.
Ventral
The front side of something.
Planter
Another term that refers to the feet.
Palmer
Refers to the hand.
Prone Position
Lying on your stomach
Supine Position
Lying in your back.
Fowler's Position
Sitting Position
Trendelenburg
Sitting with knees elevated
Shock Position
Lying position With legs elevated
