Dalton's Atomic theory
1. Elements are made of tiny particles called atoms
2. Atoms are indestructible and unchangeable
3. Elements are characterized by the mass of their atoms; atoms of a given elements are alike and differ from all others
4. Elements form compounds, their atoms combine in fixed, small, whole number ratios
5. When elements form compounds their atoms can combine in more than once, simple whole number ratio
6. During chemical reactions, no atoms are created nor destroyed

The weighted average of the masses of all naturally occuring isotopes for a given element

mass of isotope x % abundance = mass contribution

add all mass contributions for each isotope to get atomic mass(weight) in grams
The Mole
The amount of a substance containing 6.022 x 10x23 particles

If the atomic mass of 1 mol of a substance is x amu then 1 mol of the substance has a mass of x grams and 6.022 x 10X23 unit particles
