How do you add two like signed numbers?
Add the absolute values and keep the sign: +4 + +10 = 14
How do you add two unlike signed numbers?
Subtract the AV of the smaller number from the AV of the larger number and add the sign of the larger number.
+4 - -10 = -7
How do you multiply like signed numbers?
Multiply the absolute values. The number will always be positive.
-3 x -3 = 9
How do you multiply unlike signed numbers?
Multiply the absolute values. The number will always be negative.
-3 x +3 = -9
How do you divide like signed numbers?
Divide the absolute values. The number will always be positive.
+15 d +5 = 3
How do you divide unlike signed numbers?
Divide the absolute values. The number will always be negative.
+15 d -5 = -3
What is the order of operations?
Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiply, Divide (left to right), Addition, Subtraction (left to right)
What is [n]?
[-3(7-2)]
Absolute (positive) value of the number
The absolute value of 7-2 multiplied by -3= 15
What is the LCM?
The least common multiple is the smallest number divisible by two numbers.
How do you find the LCM?
Prime factor both numbers and multiply the non repeating factos (all of the fictors of the 1st number and nonrepeating factors of the 2nd number.
