dramatic irony
anctor speaks in ignorance of a circumstance or event that is known to the audience or to other characters.

skene
the curtain at the back of the stage; is used for backdrops, costume changes and exits and entrances.
exodos
final, ceremonial exit

altar to Dionysus in the center of the orchestra
deux ex machina
"flying machine" for actors to play gods
epiphany
"showing forth" or seeing the light (truth)
catharsis
purging of emotions (mostly pity and fear) through art
orchestra
circular area on the ground level where the orchestra and chorus stay
theatron
stone steps rising up and back (usually built on a hill)
episode
play or act
choragos
leader of the chorus
prologue
background information at the start of the play
parados
the first entry of the chorus (usually with lyrical)
hamartia
fatal/tragic flaw
stichomythia
rapid-fire dialogue between two characters
proskenion
the stage in front of the skene; action takes place there
stasimon
the musical ode at the end of an episode
archetype
model of a type: tragic hero, chivalrous knight, etc
