perfunctory
adj - done merely as a duty or routine, without genuine care or feeling
rabid
adj - 1 said of dogs, etc: suffering from rabies. 2 a fanatical; unreasoning; b raging
salutary
adj - 1 beneficial; bringing or containing a timely warning. 2 promoting health and safety; wholesome
satirical
adj 1 relating to or containing satire (the use of sarcasm, irony, wit and humour)
temporize
verb - 1 to avoid taking a decision or committing oneself to some course of action, in order to gain time and perhaps win a compromise. 2 to adapt oneself to circumstances or to what the occasion requires
altercation
noun - an argument or dispute
blase
adj - lacking enthusiasm or interest, or unconcerned, especially as a result of over-familiarity
coerce
verb - to force or compel to do something, using threats, etc.
depredation
noun - damage, destruction or violent robbery
burgeon
verb - to grow or develop quickly; to flourish
fetish
noun - 1 in primitive societies: an object worshipped for its perceived magical powers. 2 a procedure or ritual followed obsessively, or an object of obsessive devotion
ignominious
adj - causing shame or dishonour; humiliating
imperturbable
adj - not liable to become, or not capable of being, easily worried or upset; always calm and unruffled
limpid
adj - 1 said of water, the air, eyes, etc: clear; transparent. 2 said of speeches, writing, etc: easily understood
lyrical
adj - 1 lyric; song-like. 2 full of enthusiastic praise
