Deviation IQ
a standard IQ test score whose mean and standard deviation remain constant for all ages
Garder's multiple intelligences
people have multiple intelligences, which include: linguistic, logical-math, musical, spatial, body, naturalist,interpersonal, intrapersonal
Factor analysis
statistical procedure designed to discover the independent elements (factors) in any set of data
Intelligence
the overall capacity to act purposefully, think rationally, and deal effectively w/ the environment
Jensen's theory
intelligence consists of associative abilities-connect to stimuli and events and cognitive abilities-involve reasoning and problem solving
Reliability
the ability of a test to yield comparable scores each time it is given to the same person
Vygotsky's View
intellectual developement occurs in social context that includes communication, w/ self and others
Emotional intelligence
which includes self-awareness, impulse control, persistance, self-motivation, ability to recognize emotions in others, and social agility
Validity
ability of a test to measure what is suppose to be measured and to predict what it suppose to predict
Wechsler's theory
intelligence is more than simply mathematical or problem-solving, it is the broader ability to deal with the world
Sternberg's triarchic theory
intelligence has three dimensions: analytic, practical, and creative
