The percentace of people in a country that can read and write.

More Developed Country (MDC)
A country that has progressed further along the development continuum.

Primary Sector
Workers that directly extract materials from the Earth through, agriculture, and sometimes by fishing, mining and forestry.

Productivity
The value of a particular product compared to the amount of labor needed to make it.

Secondary Sector
Includes manufacturers that process, transform, and assemble raw materials into useful products.

Structural Adjustment Program
A program that LDCs are required to adopt after receiving aid from MDCs. Like raising costs of thing and changing who controls companies and other things.

Tertiary Sector
Involves the provision of goods and services to people in exchange for payment. (Banking, law, education, etc.)
