- What is a sonnet?
- A 14 line poem, ryhme scheme is fixed. Meter is Iambic Pentameter
- what is an allusion?
- a reference in a literary work to a person, place, or thing in history or another work of literature
- What is characterization?
- description of a characters actions, thoughts, feelings, moral and inactions w/ others
- what is foreshadowing?
- planting hints about what will happen later in the story
- What is Iambic Pentameter?
- When a poem has 10 beats per line EX: Shakespeare
- what is irony?
- person, situation, statement, or circumstance is notas it would actually seem
- What is onomatopoeta?
- A word that when pronounced imitates the sound the word describes EX: buzz, woof, meow, hiss
- What is the mood of a story?
- emotions of a work or of the author in his/her creation of the work
- What is theme?
- A repeated idea that is incorporated in a story
- What is tone?
- The authors attitude toward his or her audience may be deduced from the tone of the work
